You Can Convince Yourself of Anything
Here’s a link to that article: http://www.truthaboutabs.com/energy-drink-mind-body-connection.html Like I said, it wasn’t really a surprise to read that, but at the same time, it did get me to thinking about how easily we can be convinced of something’s validity just by hearing that it’s so, and without searching for any facts on our own. You often hear it said that people believe what they want to believe, and I agree with that idea, but it still throws me off a bit when I see it on such a large scale. And these energy drinks – and health food in general – make for a good example. A lot of what we’re led to believe is health food is actually really unhealthy, but they’re able to manipulate the conversation enough to affect public opinion. For example, soy is apparently not very good for you at all. But most health foods have soy in them. Some even have soy as a main ingredient substitute for meat or milk or something else. But soy is extremely fattening and full of pesticides like no other item. Who knew? Avoid eating soy.
Who Cares if You Make a Fool of Yourself?
I decided ahead of time that I was going to make the most of my weekend, come hell or high water. So I did. My wife and I attended a few different get togethers and events with our friends and family over the course of 3 1/2 days or so. And frankly, we had the best time. Now I want to point out that we didn’t do anything that would necessarily be considered spectacular, like skydiving or riding in the space shuttle. But we don’t always need to ride the space shuttle to have a good time. Because we have excellent friends. The best, frankly. And we can have a ton of fun just doing something as simple as spending a few hours with them at a barbecue or a restaurant or a bar, and eating and drinking and chatting.
A Passion for What You Do
Don is about as pleasant a person as you could ever speak to in your life. I know, because I just spoke to him. And I recorded it for you to listen to. How about that? What did we talk about? Why the life and work of Napoleon Hill, of course. You’ve most likely heard of Napoleon Hill, but like most of us, you may not know a lot about him or his work. Well, luckily, Don is here to educate us about the man’s importance and his influence. Napoleon Hill was one of the most important success and achievement experts in history, and his book “Think and Grow Rich” is pretty much the gold standard for anyone interested in self improvement. There is a ton to learn from Napoleon Hill about how you too can be successful, and there is also a ton to learn from Don Green, who says rather convincingly that he isn’t in it for the money. He has a passion for what he does (Something to consider, yes?). So give this interview a listen and do some learning. I hope you like it.
Become Authentically Empowered
Loren’s work as a clinical social worker leads her to, as she put it, “helping people become authentically empowered.” Meaning, believing in yourself and achieving goals. She often helps people who’ve had a troubled past deal with post-traumatic stress through hypnotherapy and something called neurofeedback, which she explains during our chat. She has some great advice about building your confidence and self esteem, releasing your negative behaviors, and believing that “who I am is enough.”
Watch Me Succeed
Joseph Ratliff has built a very successful business on the internet, and he now focuses on helping others do the same. He was nice enough to pass along some of his basic principles for success to us. If you’re interested in entrepreneurship as a new career move, then there’s a lot that you can learn from Joe. But his advice also applies to any form of personal success, because he preaches focused action, learning from failure, goal setting (or rather, goal achievement), and what he calls the “abundace vs. scarcity mindset”. He explains it all in the audio recording below. Also, he has one very important thing to say to anyone who tells him what he can’t do: “watch me”. That’s a very positive attitude to have, and one we should all think about adopting. Actually, Joe has a great attitude all around, come to think of it.
